Description
Function: The small (auxiliary) radiator cooling fan assists the main fan in maintaining optimal coolant and air-conditioning condenser temperatures, particularly at low vehicle speeds and during stationary idling. Common failure symptoms include engine running hotter than normal, air-conditioning performance dropping at idle, cooling fan fault codes stored (e.g. J293 – Radiator Fan Control Module), or the fan motor seizing or running continuously. Replacement notes: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before commencing work. The small fan mounts to the passenger-side of the dual-fan shroud assembly. Inspect the fan shroud, wiring harness connector, and fan control module for damage before refitting. No specific torque specification applies to the fan motor mounting — secure shroud fasteners to approximately 5–8 Nm. Ensure the electrical connector clicks fully into place and clear any active fault codes with a diagnostic scan tool after installation.
