Description
Description
The hydraulic valve lifter, also known as a hydraulic tappet or lash adjuster, is an integral component of the engine’s valve train system. Its primary function is to maintain proper valve clearance automatically by compensating for wear and thermal expansion. This ensures optimal engine performance and reduces the need for manual valve adjustments.
When this component begins to fail, it typically produces a noticeable ticking or tapping noise from the engine, especially during cold starts or at idle. This sound results from excessive clearance caused by the lifter’s inability to maintain contact with the valve stem. Additional symptoms of failure may include engine misfires, reduced power output, decreased fuel efficiency, and, in severe cases, increased wear on the camshaft lobes and other valve train components, which can lead to significant engine damage if left unaddressed.
This is a very high quality aftermarket replacement part.
